Director’s Note:
Welcome to Let’s Go To The Movies! I know that I speak for all the cast, and crew when I say we are so excited to have you join us today. Whether you’re here to cheer on a loved one or simply to enjoy an evening of music and entertainment, a familiar face or just joining us for the first time- thank you for being here. Your energy and support mean the world.
Bringing a show like this to life is no small task, and I can never let a show go by without giving credit to the incredible team that helps turn words on a page into a fully realized production. To our directors who dedicate their time and talents, the performers who pour their hearts into every note and step, the crew who work behind the scenes, and the parents, volunteers, and supporters who make it all possible—thank you. Your time and commitment are all the heartbeat of these shows.
There’s something magical about the way songs from movies stay with us. Whether it’s the triumphant swell of an orchestral theme or a song that transports us back to a favorite scene, movie music has a way of sticking. It connects us to stories, to emotions, and to each other. We hope to bring a little bit of that nostalgic movie magic to you tonight, with iconic songs from movies featured on the silver screen.
So sit back, enjoy, and let's go to the movies!

Welcome, and thank you for joining us! Every season, as we prepare to put a show on stage to share with you all, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the many people who make these productions possible, and for a Heavenly Father who gives us our talents, magnifies our capabilities, and makes all things possible.
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to our dedicated parent committees and board members. Your tireless work and support behind the scenes help ensure that everything runs smoothly, and your commitment to our performers never goes unnoticed. I also need to thank our extraordinary directing staff. Their expertise, creativity, and unwavering dedication have helped shape this production, and they bring out the best in each and every one of our performers. It is a true privilege to work alongside such talented and caring individuals.
Of course, none of this would be possible without our amazing performers. Watching them grow—not only as artists but as individuals—is the greatest joy of my role as director. Their hard work, enthusiasm, and resilience are what make this show truly shine. I am so proud of each of them.
As you sit back and enjoy today’s performance, I hope the music and spirit of the season bring joy and warmth to your hearts. My wish for you is that you leave here tonight with your hearts full of Christmas cheer and the magic that this time of year so beautifully brings.

Every time we arrive at opening night for a new show, I'm filled with the same mixture of emotions: amazement, anticipation, awe, and gratitude. It's amazing to witness so many individuals generously contributing their time and talents to make this experience possible. I eagerly anticipate the moment when the audience can immerse themselves in the magic and joy that awaits behind the curtain. The talent displayed by these remarkable young performers in just four short months never fails to leave me in awe. And I'm deeply grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it all. Truly, I have the best job.
I've always been a firm believer in the power of music. It has a remarkable ability to transcend boundaries, evoke emotions, and tell stories that resonate deeply within us. Just a few notes of a familiar song from our past can instantly take us back to the sights, sounds and emotions of a long ago moment in time. Whether it's the song from a first dance, the soundtrack of a memorable road trip, or the melody that accompanied a significant life event, music has a unique ability to etch itself into the tapestry of our memories.
As you settle into your seats tonight and the curtains part, I hope you too will be touched by the power of music. May the familiar melodies carry you on a journey through cherished memories and happy moments, evoking snapshots of your past. Let your feet tap, your head bop, and your lips move along with the beats that have shaped over a century of music. Thank you for being here, enjoy the show!

As we wrap up another season and put this Christmas show on stage, I am filled with excitement and gratitude. So many people have made tonight possible. The dedicated group of board members, parent committees, directors, technical crew and cast have poured their hearts into creating an experience that, we hope, will transport you to a place where the scent of gingerbread lingers and the sound of laughter fills the air. * In the midst of the twinkling lights, the scent of evergreen, and the joyful sounds of familiar carols, there exists a magical realm of warmth and togetherness: the world of family Christmas traditions. From the treasured recipes passed down through generations to the joyous chaos of the white elephant exchange, simple yet lasting memories are created that add an extra sparkle to the holiday season. This show was created to celebrate those traditions filled with family, love, laughter, and the unmistakable magic the Christmas season brings. * Thank you for being a part of our celebration. May the spirit of Christmas fill your hearts with warmth, and may this performance be a joy-filled memory that lingers long after the curtain falls. * Wishing you a season filled with love, laughter, and the hope filled magic of Christmas!

Directors Note:
The past few years I have found myself at times feeling overwhelmed with the stories of tragedy, sadness, unfairness, and hate. As media inundates social media and our news streams with all that is wrong in the world, it can be easy to lose sight of all this is right. I am a firm believer, however, that the world is of equal, if not greater, amount of goodness. Every day there are acts of kindness and generosity carried out all around us - and though they may not make headlines, they have a power to create change in the lives of those they touch. This show was created as a tribute to that goodness and a reminder that we each hold that power within ourselves - the power to lift, the power to encourage, the power to act with empathy and to give space for differences. We might not have the ability alone to change the world, but we can make a difference in the place that we are, and when we all come together and do our part, the collective impact is magnificent.

It seems we are born with the desire to reach for the impossible. From infancy there is something innate that pushes us to try, to learn, to reach and to keep going. We crawl, we walk, and then we run. Our dreams morph and within a few short years we imagine our future as doctors, firefighters, princesses and superheroes. Truly nothing seems too impossible or too out of reach. Those dreams continue to change as we grow older and sometimes life steals away the brave boldness that we once wore so proudly. It has been said that fear kills more dreams than failure ever will.
Join Forte as we take you through the ups and downs of the dreamers. Follow a graduating high school class through the unabated enthusiasm of youthful dreams, the crushing heartbreak of dreams undiscovered and the strength that is found in learning to get back up and dream again.
Bring your friends, bring your family and make sure to bring that hopeful little child inside of you longing to dream big dreams again.

Christmas is a time for traditions. Some are new traditions started in recent years and some are traditions from our childhood that still burn bright in our memories like the embers of a dimming fire. We each have things that make the holiday special to us whether it is the smell of a fresh pine tree in the living room, matching Christmas jammies, or the taste of grandma’s homemade fudge. These treasures warm our hearts and make us feel like we are home regardless of where we may be. Come celebrate with us this season as we highlight the things that make Christmas such a special time of year and bring joy and hope to each of our hearts. We promise laughter, entertainment and a heartwarming experience you won’t soon forget.

Welcome to Tri-City Youth Choir's Gifts of Christmas! Our show focuses on the gifts that we receive during the Christmas season; gifts like hope, wisdom, and beauty; gifts that can only be 'unwrapped' by the heart. Christmas is also a time of giving. It's a time when our hearts turn outward to help those in need, and a time when unity exists and love abounds. May we each be grateful for the gifts we receive, and may we each be inspired to know what gifts we can share with others this Christmas season. Enjoy the show!

Forte! is singin’ and swingin’ and Christmas Bells are ringin’! We are delighted that you are here with us for our show, “Forte Wishes You a Joyful Swingin’ Christmas”! Get ready for a happy, musical ride through many decades of Christmas music, with a special note to the jazz “Swing” era. You’ll see some Jitterbuggin’ on stage as forte! brings back the Lindy Hop and other fun Swing dances. You’ll hear the irresistible swinging rhythms in the beloved Christmas tunes from 1930’s, 1940’s, 1950’s and beyond. Our opening number hails back to 1936! “What Will Santa Claus Say"? is from a rare Big Band recording, but caught our attention when it was just recently published for choirs.
Many people are fond of the vintage Christmas recordings by artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Andy Williams, The Andrews Sisters, etc., so it was a natural choice to put together this concert featuring holiday Swing tunes, but variety is the spice of life, so we have sprinkled in songs from other decades and styles as well. Some you will recognize, some you will not. Enjoy! and Merry Christmas!

Forte! Spring 2016
Director’s Note
Welcome to Forte’s first full concert of Broadway music! We are delighted to present these beautiful and exciting choral arrangements to you this weekend. You will notice that the short songs in the medleys are not in the order that they would appear in the musical theatre productions. We aren’t doing mini musical here, but instead, we are presenting these wonderful medleys hat have been published for choirs.
There are a few special features we’d like to mention, so you can keep an eye out for them in the show:
- Our talented choreographer, Julie Adams Howald, has taught forte! traditional Polynesian dance moves in the medley for Once On This Island. Each gesture, shape of the hand, and body posture portrays a word or emotion.
-Our other talented choreographer, Christine Riesenweber, has chosen to use long dowel sticks for creative choreography and stunts in the medley from Aladdin.
-Many choir members worked on the Cockney dialect, studying the linguistics behnid it, in order to perform “Wouldn’t I Be Loverly” and Get Me to Church on Time”, in the medley for My Fair Lady.
-We are so happy that the TCYC Children’s Choir is performing with us again! (“Any Dream Will Do”)
-This weekend is a special moment, as it is the first time we’ve invited forte! alumni to come back and sing in the show. We have been fortunate to have fort! alumni assist backstage with props, lighting, sound, children’s choir and even come on stage as good ‘ole St. Nick, or sing as an opening act. But this weekend they are singing a lovely song, “ Children Will Listen” right in our show.

Televised Christmas Variety Shows were popular during prime time from 1948 to the mid-1980’s. People of all ages gathered around their television sets to watch these beloved Christmas shows - first in black and white, then in color. There were several key elements in a Christmas television variety show: a host (or hosts), comedy sketches, guest artists, performances of great songs (a mix of old and new, traditional and popular), and often a sing-a-long portion. For our show, we bring these elements and tip our hat to a few of the great Christmas television variety show hosts: Bing Crosby, Perry Como, Andy Williams, Boby Hope, and Lawrence Welk. Of course, Forte! is your host tonight for this “Christmas Variety Show”, and they will entertain you with a wonderful mix of old and new Christmas songs.
Many of the Christmas variety shows had a sing-a-long section within the show, allowing the audience to sing with the stars on some beloved Christmas songs. We offer that to you tonight as well! Please enjoy! And Merry Christmas!

An imaginary “day in the life of high school”. Here, you will find teenagers who are struggling with issues regarding friendships, romance, heartache, schoolwork, stress, fitting in, status, insecurities, and self-awareness. But even with the struggles, there are good times and good friends. Cliques are a natural part of high school life, but in our story, some teens reach out beyond their comfort zone. Some walls come down. Friendships grow. It’s a little bit like real high school. This is our story: “Cliques”.

New songs that sound old. Old songs that sound new. This is the exciting music mix for our show, “A New Old-Fashioned Christmas”!
You’ll recognize many of these beloved Christmas songs, but some might be new to you. Some of the old favorites have been rearranged to sound modern, with jazz and Pop influences. Likewise, some of the new Christmas songs here have been composed to sound like music eras of the past, honoring sounds and styles from the 1940’s Andrew Sisters, 1950’s Doo-Wop, 1960’s Pop hits, and 1970’s soft rock ballads.
Of course we couldn’t help but include a few Christmas favorites that are untouched and presented very close to their original style.
When gathering music and ideas for this show, we were inspired by a phrase crooned in a standard Christmas song: “…Everyone dancing merrily in the new, old-fashioned way.”
We hope you will feel the warmth and joy of the Christmas spirit in our presentation of these fun, vibrant, beautiful, heart-warming new and old Christmas songs!

Imagine that there is a street - just one portion of a street - where the love of music can pull you out of your daily doldrums. A song begins, and our worries disappear. Obligation are temporarily set aside. You get to sing and dance like you’ve always dreamed you could. This is such a place. A magical space. On this street, the people who come and go from this imaginary street-front bistro are drawn to the sound of a song and realize their wishes and dreams to sing and dance. Even more than this, they are pulled from loneliness, separation, hopelessness, and anxiety, and drawn to joy, friendship, hope and love.
Come be whisked away to a charming, musical, heartening, imaginary day as we present to you “Dancin’ in the Street”!

Welcome to Forte’s production of “A Christmas Fantasy"!” This is not a fantasy of princes, princesses and castles, but a fantasy of past and present Christmas memories and popular music performances. This is a moment to soak in and enjoy a favorite Christmas song or artist and remember the magic and joy of Christmas. A moment to relish. A moment to step out of your daily routine and into a beautiful, musical holiday world that we create for you on stage.
A favorite popular Christmas song might come from a worn-out 1940’s Bing Crosby album, or a holiday Motown record from the 60’s It might be a vintage holiday favorite from Frank Sinatra or Andy Williams. The Carpenters sang Christmas tunes during the 1970’s that are still cherished today. Amy Grant’s Christmas albums from the 80’s and 90’s are considered by some as “essential” holiday listening. In more recent years, artist like MIchael W. Smith and Mercy Me have created contemporary Christmas recordings that are treasured as well. Popular artists like Mariah Carey and Paul McCartney have contributed to the list of holiday favorites, and there are many memorable tunes from Christmas movies, Broadway musicals, and television specials. The list is vast, the variety endless.
Some of these popular Christmas favorites have been thoughtfully selected for your enjoyment today, The greatest gift we can give you is a musical moment of holiday joy and happiness: A Christmas Fantasy.

There’s nothing like the combination of great music and great movies. Together, they become a truly unforgettable experience. Moments on the big screen make us laugh, cry, gasp, sigh, hope, despair and everything in between. As most movies or songs come with a ‘moral of the story’, this show too, has it’s message: Remember with a little reflections on the past (Remember the 80’s), and a whole lot of love (Young Love), then rainy days won’t stop us (Singing in the Rain), our dreams can come true (Dare to Dream) and Happily Ever Afters are really possible.

Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday season. My heart is filled with wonderful memories of growing up with my brothers and sisters all excited to share in the surprises of that one wonderful morning. One of my favorite family traditions at Christmas is decorating the tree. We have an old box of ornaments that we dust off every year. Each ornament that we pull from the box is like opening and old classic book with a story that is worth retelling every year. Those stories interlock our families and friends together in a beautiful tapestry of love and faith, reminding us of the things that really matter. We are so glad you have joined us as you begin your Christmas celebrations this year. We hope to share with you a little bit of what is in our hearts this season as you join us ‘at our house’.
